Gladys Porter Zoo Animal Play-Day




Gladys Porter Zoo has scheduled a public enrichment
play-day for Sunday January 17, 2010. The event is
free with paid zoo admission and begins at 11:00 am
with the Gorillas. Animal Play Days are scheduled
events where Zoo animals are given an enrichment
item that has a specific theme. January's theme is "Gold
and Silver medals"in honor of this years Winter
Olympics. Enrichment is performed on a daily basis at
the Zoo and is a vital component essential to the health
and well being of our animal collection.

....and this is only to name a few ( in most cases there is more
than one in a litter or clutch ) not to mention these are some
of our fall/winter babies :) there were several births and
hatchings which occured in the spring ( ex Caribbean Flamingos,
Galapagos Tortoises and several speices of hoofstock
AGAIN only to name a few )

A friend of mine titled this image "Holiday Blues"
and boy was she right. Seemed the day just got
started off on a sour note but lucky for me it improved
as the day went on. Here is wishing you all a Happy
